Lupul Locked Up, Youngsters Looking Good in Leduc

Oilers agree to three-year deal with winger Joffrey Lupul
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) -The Edmonton Oilers re-signed winger Joffrey Lupul for a contract worth about $6.9 million over three years.

The restricted free agent, who turns 23 next week, was acquired in the Chris Pronger deal with Anaheim earlier this summer. Lupul, who made $900,600 last year, had 28 goals and 25 assists in 81 games with the Ducks, his second in the NHL. The Edmonton native also added nine goals and two assists in 16 playoff games.

Good on em. The Oil look to be killin it on offense this year. Smyth, Horcoff, Stoll, Pisani, Torres, Sykora, Hemsky and now Lupul (who is the only player to score 4 goals in a Stanley Cup Playoff game) bring the heat. It's a good thing the Northwest Division has got themsleves some netminders or this thing would be a cakewalk. Two of the players that have been showing some promise at the Rookie Camp in Leduc over the week have been Irvine (8) and Inoue (74). Irvine has been lighting the lamp quite regularly and should break the big squad this year. Inoue has also been a standout and will make Coach MacTavish's job a little easier when trying to determine the top 6 defenceman for the upcoming season.
